For tomorrow/Wednesday…

Hope everyone had a Happy New Year! So while I did promise that I would be back to posting today, something came up and I just don’t have the time right now to do a proper post. I will be posting a lot on the Israel/Gaza situation, though, and I thought I would throw out a few pieces that I’ll be referencing when I do so:

Why Israel Feels Threatened – Bennie Morris’ Dec. 29 NYT Op-Ed

If Obama is Serious – Aaron David Miller, Newsweek

Understanding Gaza – Tony Karon

Why bombing Ashkelon is the most tragic irony – Robert Fisk, The Independent

Worse Outcomes than a Strengthened Hamas – Matt Duss, Wonk Room

Bad Timing – Christopher Hitchens, Slate

If you’re at all interested in what’s going on, all of these pieces combine to give you a decent view (I like a lot of these pieces, despise one, and have a lot of issues with another – I’ll leave you guessing which one is which) from some different perspectives. If anyone wants to comment on these pieces or the conflict (as it were…) before I post – as always – feel free. Sorry for the hollow promises!

Oh, and I’ll also be posting on the economy again, and – also as always – I’ll be talking about Paul Krugman. Here’s his latest piece, on the current deepening recession and the resurgence of Keynesian economics. Comment on this as well if you get a chance!
